MFTWSC80

I went to Heather Ellis's website and after a bit of confusion and then quickly receiving a clarifying  email from her; I ordered three new digi images of her Pure Innocence line. You can find digi images at her etsy shop.  Here is the mermaid image 038 that I printed on white neenah for this week's challenge. The dp is from Authentique and the "Fresh" collection. The cardstock is SU: crumb and red; as are the pearls and dimensionals. There is a touch of glossy accents on the starfish in her hair. The sentiments are from MFT and stamped in Memento. The dies are MFT wave border and sentiment strips; the shell is an older one from Sizzix.

She is colored in copics. Her skin is E21, E11 and R02. Her hair is E43, E57 and E47. Her outfit is R14, R24, R27 and B91, BG45, B93, BG72 and W3. The shell in her hand is E42, BV00 and R02.

SFYTTJuly2012

Found a new challenge to try - it's a monthly challenge that you can find here. Different companies sponsor the challenge and this month it's MFT. I needed a birthday card and so here is my creation. Birthday Girl is a new release this month. She is stamped on neenah using Memento ink. The ribbon and cardstock are from SU: melon mambo and pool party. The dp is from lilybeedesign and called "Victorian Park." Several dies were used: the circles and scalloped circles are nesties; MFT dies include hexagons and sentiment strips. She is paperpieced and colored with copics.

Her skin is E000, E00, E01 and R20, R00. Hair is E41, E42, and E55. The balloon is shadowed in R81 and her dress in BG10. The background shadow is BG70.

I am thinking that she needs some bling - maybe some tiny pearls along the seam of her dress.

MFTWSC#78

Took a few minutes to play before leaving on our "Cult" road trip. Eight of us are off to MFT this morning for a make and take and then half of us are heading over to Orlando for a visit to Scrap Your Trip. I am so excited; I love going to Eustis to visit MFT and eating next door at Olivia's.  I am also looking forward to visiting the scrapbook store - I love their online presence and am looking forward to seeing their retail location. We are staying at a lovely Sheraton time share (Thank you Sandy!) and tomorrow we are going to Stamp Fest and more shopping and more eating! It's going to be so much fun - especially since Storm Debby has moved on.

I inked up Cute-A-Tude for this week's challenge sketch. She is stamped in memento on neenah and colored with copics. The DP is from Memory Box (Viola). The cardstock is SU (retired) and SU silver glitter paper. She is paperpieced and fussy cut. MFT dies are used: Monarch border and flowers - Botanical and Flower Trio. The sentiment (a combination of two different verses) is stamped on a new sentiment strip die. She is mounted on a Vertical Greetings die. A button and half pearl (colored with copics) and a crystal in her hair flower finish off this card.

Copics used to color the skin in this image are E000, E00, E01 and R20 and R00. Her dress is shaded with BV0000 and BV00. These are also used along with BV02 for her shoes and hair flower. Her hair is YR23, E99 and E37.

One is not enough

Since I had the Surf's Up collection out on my table, I just had to ink up the Surfer Dude too. I decided to use the same sketch challenge because I already had the shell necklace made. I went with the lei for the Surf Chick because this surfer shell necklace was lost against the leaf background.  These are shell pieces that I found on my last Caribbean trip.

He is stamped in Tuxedo black on neenah. The DP is from echo park (Splash). The cs is SU. He is also paper-pieced, fussy cut, and colored with copics. I used the MFT dies: jumbo squiggle (to be released in July); the catch a wave border; fishtail flags stax and the new sentiment strips. I should have inked the edges of the waves. They blend too much.

Colors that I used his skin were E21, E11, R02. For his suit I used YR12, YR15, YR18 and BG72, BG75 and BG 99. His board is shadowed with B00.

A Perfect Day to Play

Too overcast for the beach, but a perfect day to play with my new MFT sneak peak stamps and a new sketch challenge. PI Surf Chick is being released for July (along with Sufer Dude). Check out the MFT blog for a closer look at the Surf's Up collection.

She is stamped in Memento's Tuxedo Black onto white neehah. She is paper-pieced and fussy cut and added to a sky-sponged backgroud. The cardstock is from SU: turquoise, limeade, gumball, olive, crumb and curry (ret). I used several MFT dies for this card: the new jumbo squiggle border and wonky scallop border for the sand (sponged with crumb cake ink). The fishtail flags stax is used with a sentiment from the VIP collection. The background is DP (from my desktop) layered with muli-colored leaves  using the hibiscus die (gumball ink is blended around the edges).
There are two types of flowers in the lei. Some are stamped, colored with copics and fussy cut and the rest are die cut from the hibiscus flower die (using just the center), blended with distress around the edges, and then shaped with a stylus. Yellow Stickles is added to the center of the flowers.
The sky is created by sponging turquoise ink around this template.
Surf Chick's skin was given a suntan using darker colored copics than I usually use: E21, E11 and E13 and R02 for the cheeks. Her hair is Y21, YR23 and E 35. Her suit is YR12, YR15 and YR18. Shadowing on her paper-pieced suit is C1 and her surfboard is YG13. Flowers are done in combination of Y13, Y15, YR13, YR15 and YR18. An orange spica adds glitz to her surfboard flower.

Playing with Giraffe Girl

I had purchased this set as part of an early release package and then found the paper at a scrapbook store. The card base is SU saffron and layered with an embossed bashful blue and a layer of pear. The little cutie is mounted on saffron cut using the MFT vertical greetings die and then sponged with distress (I think it was honey, but to be honest, I just used what was already on my blending tool). Mounted on a mini doily from MFT, the rolled flower is another MFT die that has been spritzed with Perfect Pearl Misters in Sunflower. I love the sparkle of these mists. Check back later today to see an index of the copic marker colors that I used on xpress-it white as well as how I decide to finish the inside. I think I need to add some bling to her hair flower too.My daughter is coming by shortly and we are going to have a girls day - nails, lunch and a trip to JAX for a visit to some stamp and scrapbook stores.

A New Challenge

This is the card that I am submitting for this week's challenge: MFTWSC68. If you  check here, you can see where I colored the little ones last week. I had not decided how to place them on a card front, but this week's sketch is just perfect. I love how her dress and wings came out, (see the other post for a close up) I am not fond of  my grass technique grass - the yard needs some maintenance.

On the other post you can find an index for the colors that I used as well as a close up showing the wings and wand. For the wings, I added a layer of sparkle over the copic colors  by using a Sakura stardust pen and an aqua pen. If you make a line or scribble and then move the ink around with an aqua pen before it dries, it gives this great shine just where you want it without showing a line. I also added a Swarovski flat-back crystal to her wand and to the flower centers. Spica pens added more glitz to her wand and tiny hearts and shoe pompoms.

The little one is "Fairy Girl" from MFT and she is stamped on Solar White Neenah with Memento: Tuxedo Black. I masked the mushroom before stamping. The card base is from SU: Daffodil.  I used a scalloped square Nestabilities die for the frame and side trim (just cut a couple of times and pieced a strip); MFT dies used were Fishtail Flags Stax, Flower Trio and Leaf, Mini Doily Circles, and the flower center is from Botanical Beauty.

The St. Augustine Stamp Club meets tomorrow and I wanted to share how I met the challenge to use Flower Soft. The sky is inked using a homemade cloud template of circles and the window is a Memory Box die that I just love and haven't played with yet. I would liked to have added some words to the front, but couldn't find a look that I liked. The grass is a torn and inked piece of green cardstock and the curtain is a piece of Holtz trim.

I had bought several tubs of Flower Soft when it came out, but really don't like to use it so I used one color for my card and gave the rest away to the girls. I now have a free drawer that will house my new distress markers.

I am thinking "April Showers" for the next challenge.
