Friendship

JANUARY 6Cult Happenings: Progressive Christmas Party. At 8:15am, we took our friendship on the road to celebrate Christmas and exchange preesnts.  We extend the season by having our party a little later - anticipation is great (so is having more time to finish presents and not having to try and schedule the occasion around everyone's family celebrations and travel). This year we met at my house to car pool and then traveled to Jan's house at 8:30 for a light breakfast (muffin tops, fruit, sausage rolls and quiche - delicious)and to open our gifts from her. We went in two cars to Elaine's who designed a project for us to complete. She wasn't able to join the fun last year, so we had a to include a tour of her craft room. She challenged us with making fortune cookies. She designed and painted each of us bird houses that are delightful. Next was Joyce (more food - yummy salad- and owl presents). On the road again to Kittys for two card projects. She did lots of the work for us; we only had to glue. She had monogrammed bags of goodies to match our shirts from last year. Deb had delicious soup and bread and beautiful bags of presents. Anita was next with more owl creations for Valentines and more lovely presents. Our last stop was my house for dessert and the last of the presents. We enjoyed a Pinterest dessert: cookie dough dip with apples, pretzels and gingerbread chips. We took the following pictures at each stop and and plan to include them in books that we have already created  to hold the memories. I have included a slide show of the day's events and of my gifts to the girls. You can also check this post for a slide show of the Copic Journals that I made for presents.

SEPT 9, 2012
We headed up to Jacksonville for the Scrap Expo with only a minor scenic tour on the way. We have not been for several years and found it to be smaller than in the past. We didn't take any classes this time; just shopping and laughing together. We ran into some stamping friends from St A and from NSB. We discovered some neat new glass pebbles for making jewelry; some dies that we missed from stamp fest and some nice new 6x6 paper packs. Now if I can only find time to use them. School is keeping me soooo busy this year. We had a good lunch at the hotel and were entertained by a clown convention. We extended our trip with a stop at A Small Cleverness and PIT.

JUNE 29, 2012
It was Stamp Fest again and the Cult went on the road again. Eight of us headed off to Eustis and visited My Favorite Things. Bri did a wonderful make-and-take project: a flip and fold mini scrapbook. After a wonderful time shopping (I stocked up on some dies from my wish list), we had a delicious lunch next door at Olivia's. Five went on to Orlando, the rest had to return home. We tried to visit Scrap My Trip, but they were not open so we headed off to a bead store and scrapbook store. After a bit of shopping (for some new beads and paper) we headed to the resort that Sandy so graciously shared with us. It is absolutely beautiful. We spend the evening making cards - from a shoebox swap.

Bright and early we headed off for shopping heaven at Stamp Fest. The new location is much nicer, but it still gets very crowded and by noon the lines to pay are too long for me to enjoy buying. I would much rather order online or through my local shops. I found a few copics that I wanted, some score tape and a couple of dylusion stamp sets. We had lunch at the Tilted Kilt (keeping our eyes peeled for a boyfriend for Joyce) and then headed off for more shopping, this time we visited two new quilt shops. Back to the resort to work on some beading projects, and then a light dinner and drinks by the pool.

We slept in on Sunday, had brunch at Mimi's (yummy muffins and smoothies) and then visited the Sewing Studio. Now I have to clean off my sewing table to make room for some sewing projects. More about those projects later - birthdays are coming around. We tried to visit the bead store in Altamonte, but they were unexpectedly closed - just as well - money is gone!

Home again with lighter wallets but richer in friendship. Following are some of my pictures of our trip.

JANUARY 7
Cult Happenings: Progressive Christmas Party. At 8:45 am, we took our friendship on the road to celebrate Christmas and exchange presents on January 7. We extended the season by having our party a little later - anticipation is great (so is having more time to finish presents and not having to try and schedule the occasion around everyone's family celebrations and travel). This year we started at Jan's house at nine for a light breakfast (muffin tops, fruit, sausage rolls and quiche - delicious)and to open our gifts from her. We are planning a slumber party/movie night to share our presents. We were to go on the road to Elaine's who designed a project for us to complete, but her mother isn't well so she had to postpone. We intend to descend on her later in the month. I brought two card designs to Jan's for us to complete.  Next was Joyce (more food - yummy chicken salad- and presents); Kitty for a project with lots of chocolate and glue and presents (check out our new shirts); Deb had lentil soup and bread and bags of presents; Anita was next with more creations for Valentines and more lovely presents and then we were to come to me for dessert and the last of the presents. Rep, my weiner dog, wasn't well so I just moved my cookies (Thank you Panerra's - have you ever had their chocolate crinkles?) and presents to Anita's to share. We took the following pictures at each stop and and plan to include them in books that we have already created ("Stack the Deck" book from Laura Dennison) to hold the memories. I have included a slide show of the day's events and of my gifts to the girls.
